About the Screensaver

The screensaver that you can download here for free includes a dozen of the same postcards that can be seen on this web site.

How to Download and Install the Screensaver

You may want to print these instructions!

Please note: These instructions are for PCs using MS WINDOWS 95 and up as an operating system. I have no idea what you should do if you use a MAC. Sorry!

  • To download the Free Early Dallas Postcards screensaver, click on the link below that says "Download Screensaver." If your browser gives you the option of opening or saving to disk, choose "Save To Disk." Be sure to remember the name of the directory where you saved the file. (I suggest you save it to your WINDOWS directory.) The name of the file is PCARDS1.EXE. It is 2.27mb in size. (As far as I know, it is virus-free but if you are cautious like me, you may want to scan it with your virus software before trying to open it.) How long it takes to download to your computer. depends on the speed of your connection to the Internet. If you use a dial-up modem, it will take longer than a DSL or broadband connection.
  • After you have downloaded the file, open WINDOWS EXPLORER (NOT Internet Explorer!), find the file where ever you saved it and then just double-click on it. It will self-install instantly.
  • If you want to adjust how long your computer is idle before the screensaver starts to display itself on your monitor, go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY, SCREENSAVERS, and adjust the time.
  • That's it! ENJOY!
