Sept. 14: The Richardson Echo reports Bailey Variety Building completed..

n.d.: Smith Street becomes Main Street. July 2: Citizen's State Bank moves to 200 West Main Street.
Dec. 5: The Santa Fe Dallas-Chicago-Dallas "Texas Chief" service rolls through Richardson for the first time, on new line laid in East Richardson.

1956
|
n.d.: Texas Instruments builds a sprawling campus on the edge of Richardson.
June 23: Voters approve a home rule charter for the City of Richardson.
Sept. 10: U.S. Representative Bruce Alger attends dedication ceremony for new Richardson Post Office.

1957

n.d.: The Young Building, at 110 N. McKinney Street in old downtown Richardson is built.
n.d.: Collins Radio begins construction of a 200-acre campus in Richardson.
