Free White Rock Lake Park Screensaver

If you are experienced at downloading and installing screensavers, you may skip this stuff and go straight to the DOWNLOAD LINK.

About the Screensaver
The screensaver that you can download here for free includes many of the same points of interest that can be seen on the tour that's a part of this web site. However, in order to keep the file size under 3 mb, not all the photos were used. And in some cases, I used different photos than those seen on the web site.

All the website and screensaver photos were taken using a digital camera between 2001 and 2004. The screensaver background was created with Paint Shop Pro 7 by first scanning a piece of actual white rock found on the shore of White Rock Lake and then saving the image as a seamless textured background. Pretty cool, huh?

How to Download and Install the Screensaver

You may want to print these instructions!

Please note: These instructions are for PCs using MS WINDOWS 95 and up as an operating system. I have no idea what you should do if you use a MAC. Sorry!

  • To download the White Rock Lake Tour screensaver, click on the icon below that says "Download Screensaver." If your browser gives you the option of opening or saving to disk, choose "Save To Disk." Be sure to remember the name of the directory where you saved the file. (I suggest you save it to your WINDOWS directory.) The name of the file is WRL01.EXE. It is a little less than 3mb in size. (As far as I know, it is virus-free but if you are cautious like me, you may want to scan it with your virus software before trying to open it.) How long it takes to download to your computer depends on the speed of your connection to the Internet. If you use a dial-up modem, it will take longer than a DSL or broadband connection.
  • After you have downloaded the file, open WINDOWS EXPLORER (NOT Internet Explorer!), find the file where ever you saved it and then just double-click on it. It will self-install instantly.
  • If you want to adjust how long your computer is idle before the screensaver starts to display itself on your monitor, go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, DISPLAY, SCREENSAVERS, and adjust the time.
  • That's it! ENJOY!
