If you are looking for a speaker for your group's next meeting or program, perhaps I can help. Over the past several years I have made a number of presentations on a variety of topics to Dallas-area organizations. My experience as a public presenter includes a five-year stint as a volunteer for the "Lone Star Adventure" living history program. I have also conducted tours of historic sites in Dallas, San Antonio, and Brownsville, Texas.

My occupation is history professor. I am also a published author with a particular interest in Dallas-area, Texas, Southwest, and American History. In addition, I'm a part-time web developer (formerly full-time) and an experienced genealogist. Not surprisingly, my areas of expertise are:

  • Dallas area history, particularly
    • White Rock Lake Park
    • Fair Park
  • Texas History, particularly,
    • The Life and Legend of Davy Crockett
    • The Battle of the Alamo
    • The Texas Revolution in general
  • The U.S.-Mexican War
(from either a historical or genealogical standpoint, or both)
  • "How to Have Your Own Free or Low-cost Web Site"
  • Basic HTML
  • Genealogical Research on the World Wide Web

Having spent several years overseas I can also hold forth on...

  • The Differences between American and British Culture

I am not limited to the above topics. If you need someone to speak on just about any major theme in Texas or American History I may be able to accommodate you. Please ask.

If you are interested, here are my Curriculum Vitae.

Time: I can speak from 30 minutes to 2 hours on any of the above-named topics, according to your requirements.

Fee: I will accept any reasonable honorarium offered.

Contact: Please send email to texian1846@yahoo.com.
