MEMORABILIA

TIMELINE

CROSSINGS

In 1948, the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railway began operating passenger service from Galveston, Texas, via Houston and Fort Worth, to Chicago, Illinois. In 1955, due to growing demand, the Santa Fe built nearly 50 miles of additional track in order to also offer service from Dallas and Denton. This non-commercial, educational website has been created for the purpose of recollecting and providing information about that additional service, which began operating in 1955 and ceased in 1968--a total of 13 memorable years.
