As the bronze plaques attached to each end attests, this small concrete bridge was constructed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) between 1935 and 1937. Spanning McThurman Branch Creek, it is located on East Lawther Drive near Sunset Bay.

The WPA was one of several federal programs authorized by Congress, as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's plan to combat the Great Depression.
