In the spring of 2004 a wooden bridge that previously spanned this portion of the lake near the old municipal boathouse was replaced by a new stainless steel structure. Both were built at the same spot where a KATY Railroad trestle once crossed the lake - part of a spur line that provided access to the old pump house. (See map below.)
