After a little more than nineteen years
The WHITE ROCK LAKE MUSEUM is NO MORE

According to White Rock Lake Museum President Krista de la Harpe, who took the below photos, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the City of Dallas hired OAC (Office of Arts and Culture) staff to remove the White Rock Lake Museum, a beloved $1-2 million public asset, suddenly and without warning, from its location of nearly 20 years. Apparently worried that a protest might develop if the removal was announced beforehand, said de la Harpe, "they requested the entire day’s time and resources of two officers of the Dallas Police Department to protect the BHCC staffers from neighbors who love the lake." Remarked de la Harpe, "It is certainly a tragedy for District 9 and the entire City as well."

The following day (December 13, 2023), Martine Elyse Philippe, Director, City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture sent Ms. de la Harpe an after-the-fact notice, which you can read here. If you are as upset by this dastardly action as the author of this website, who had a hand in the creation of the museum, along with many others, who gave of their time, their talent, their expertise, and their money, to make the museum a reality, I urge you to send a message of complaint to Ms. Phillipe, whose email address is as follows: martine.philippe@dallas.gov. Her snailmail address is: Martine Elyse Philippe, Director, City of Dallas, Office of Arts and Culture, 1925 Elm Street, Suite 500, Dallas, TX 75201
